Individual Major Medical Insurance

ACA-Compliant Health Insurance options through our Private Health Insurance Exchange

For those seeking individual major medical health insurance for 2015, Open Enrollment runs from November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015. The Affordable Care Act mandates that you have health insurance. If you don’t, you’ll need to report it on your tax return and pay a penalty.*

The Alumni Insurance Program offers a Private Health Insurance Exchange, which is similar to, but separate from, the government health insurance marketplace (or public exchange). Our Exchange allows you to compare and purchase both qualified public exchange plans and other “off-exchange” plans offered by multiple carriers in most states. You can:

  • Purchase public exchange individual major medical plans from a variety of carriers
  • Purchase “off-exchange” individual major medical plans from a variety of carriers
  • Secure federal subsidies, if you qualify
  • Purchase supplementary health insurance, such as vision, dental and more
*For 2015, the penalty is 2% of your income, or $325 per adult and $162.50 per child. In 2016, it will jump to 2.5% of your income.
